I’m so grateful to be having the conversations I’ve been having, to be listening, learning, recognizing my privilege, sitting in the discomfort, stretching, and growing. I have usually used this platform to stick mainly to music / career but now I see how being white allows me the luxury of cherry-picking what I want to talk about and what I’m uncomfortable talking about, of kicking back, avoiding conflict, opting out of the conversation, or quietly watching things unfold from the sidelines. To my black brothers and sisters: I see you, I hear you, I love and support you, and I’m with you. I will put my body / name / money / time on the line in order to speak up with you and fight for you. I’m so grateful to the black voices—black leaders!—out there who are literally lighting the way. I recognize that it is not your job to educate me or explain things to me, so I'm committed to learning more about being anti-racist, about white fragility, and all of the ways I may not yet even realize ...
