Wolf Tooth athletes kait.boyle and kurt.refsnider are riding “off-road” from their homes to the 350-mile-long unboundgravel XL gravel race in Kansas. They’re connecting as much dirt road as possible given current snow depth in the Rocky Mountains as they traverse the ~1,400 miles from Victor, ID and Prescott, AZ to Emporia, Kansas.
The ride is inspired by their desire to connect familiar landscapes with the distant and unique landscape of the Great Plains where they’ll race Unbound for the first time. In the spirit of connecting communities and geography, their rides are intended to bring awareness to Protect Our Winter’s first-ever bill, the Energizing Our Communities Act, that was just introduced into Congress. This bill aims to overcome local concerns to electric power transmission development by reinvesting federal funds back into hosting communities, including tribal governments, for vital needs like roads, schools, libraries, hospitals, and of course, outdoor recreation.
