I have a kid that struggles in my class and I struggle with connecting with him. He kind of seems disinterested and even though I've been trying my hardest, I've been at a loss. Yesterday, I graded his quiz and he passed! But on one section he missed all the vocab. He drew a little doodle that said "I know I missed these." So I drew him a little cheerleader saying "that's okay, D! Let's work on your vocab together!" Today, after he got the quiz back, he came after class and asked for a tutorial pass. He showed me some doodles that he did on his Spanish folder that were so cool. I was so impressed. He showed me even more stuff he's done and I was floored. He's SO good and he showed me with SO much pride. Then he says, "you want me to draw you stuff Miss Herrera? I can bring it to you Tuesday and then we can study together."
