Since last year I’ve upped my game for managing my diabetes. This year I made the switch to using the Humalog and Basaglar pens. I also switched over to the Dexcom G6 continuous glucose monitor system. What does this mean? Basically I’m down to a minimum of 4 injections a day (from 6) and I don’t have to prick my finger to get my blood sugar reading. This may seem like a lot to you, but for me, it’s another step towards not letting diabetes have control over my life. 🚫

Managing diabetes is always at the forefront. These small changes make management that much easier while living life in the fast lane but it’s still no cakewalk. So let’s remember that when you make a joke about getting diabetes from sugary foods, that this is what my reality is and not because of my diet, but because I’m one of 420 million individuals living with an auto-immune disease know as Type 1️⃣
