As part of the #BMWOpenWork by Frieze initiative, artist Nikita Gale invited the BMW i7 designers to sketch utopian, functional, and dysfunctional guitar bodies. These sketches provided the starting point for the creation of five sculptural guitars, a mixture between a functional object and a sculpture. We have visited Ian Malone in his guitar workshop seeing these beautiful creations come to life. Gale’s artwork, that will be on display during Frieze London, connects art and music, exploring the relationship between technologies of sound and technologies of speed and motion.
