#BMWOpenWork artist Madeline Hollander’s Sunrise/Sunset, a live installation featuring ninety-six recycled automobile headlights which operate in synchronization as a perpetual world clock - is currently on view until October 22 at Jeffrey Deitch gallery in Los Angeles.
The headlights react as the sun rises and sets around the globe, creating an image of global connectedness around the world. The project was created as part of BMW Open Work by Frieze 2020, an art initiative between BMW and Frieze that embraces the idea of ‘openness’, leaving certain elements of the artwork to chance, or to be completed by the audience. Meanings could be multiple, the conversation could always be open-ended.
Looking forward to the upcoming iteration of the program at Frieze London, featuring artist Nikita Gale.
