A look into #BMWArtJourney Artist Lu Yang’s current exhibition at Palais Populaire in Berlin, who has been honored as this year’s “Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year”. Lu Yang’s art is inspired by science fiction, manga, techno and gaming culture, and explores the limits of human possibilities through the use of technology. The exhibition, DOKU Experience Center, focuses on a virtual reincarnation called Dokusho Dokushi, or DOKU for short. The gender-neutral avatar is a hyperrealistic figure whose physical form is modeled on Lu Yang’s face, investigating the posthuman realm through the use of technology.
