Diving into Koons' inspiration! 🚙🎨 In 2010, when Jeff Koons designed his first Art Car with BMW, he was motivated to be part of the pantheon in which Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein had previously found their place. Koons loved the way roylichtenstein employed the idea of the passing of time – at the 24 Hours race at Le Mans at which his BMW 3.0 CSL competed in 1977 – by showing a setting and a rising sun on the two sides of his car surrounded by the artist’s signature comic-style Benday dots. The “POP!” in the 8 Series edition is both a homage to Pop Art and a salute to Roy Lichtenstein. jeffkoons bmwusa #BMWGroupCulture #THE8XJEFFKOONS __ BMW M850i xDrive Gran Coupé: Fuel consumption in l/100 (combined): 11.0 – 10.7.
