🎨 🚗 BMW Art Cars: 19 of 19 - John Baldessari, 2016. John Baldessari remained a dedicated minimalist with his Art Car creation. The artist viewed the car as an icon for contemporary life and also viewed his participation as a collaboration with the designers of the car. He saw this project as an opportunity to make something that cannot be understood from just one point of view, but only from a total point of view. While keeping in mind the need for an aerodynamic racing car, Baldessari worked exclusively with red, yellow, blue and green to create monochrome dots over the car (with a red dot on the roof so that the artist could keep track of the car during the race!). Baldessari spontaneously decided to not work with stencils when applying the art, but instead with general outlines that he painted with color, resulting in lines that hinted at the artist's touch.
