This #TraumaSurvivorsDay, Blake Thomas is saying thank you to Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Level I Trauma team who saved his life after he tragically lost his arm in a construction mining accident in Yuma last summer. The now 20-year-old was airlifted to St. Joseph’s where trauma surgeon, Dr. Jordan Jacobs, and his team performed a series of five operations over the course of 29 days. Blake credits the St. Joseph’s trauma team with not only saving his life, but also allowing him to return to nauflagstaff where he is working toward a degree in construction management and for the ability to resume activities, like hunting with his dad, with the help of a prosthetic arm. He hopes by sharing his recovery journey, he can help inspire other trauma patients and their families.
