If there is one important lesson Chamizal National Memorial helps us to remember: it is to be kind to our neighbors.
This national memorial tells the story of the Chamizal Treaty of 1963, which put an end to a 100-year-long dispute between the United States and Mexico in El Paso, TX.
This mural is called the Nuestra Herencia (Our Heritage). Completed by artist Carlos Flores, it depicts the heritage of Americans and Mexicans and the blending of the two cultures. The hope is that this reminds visitors of this Texas park that disputes can always be settled diplomatically, with mutual understanding and respect.
