Today is the 44th anniversary of NewRiverNPS. 🎂#OnThisDay in 1978, President Jimmy Carter signed legislation establishing New River Gorge National River to conserve the natural, scenic, and historical values and objects in and around the river. 🌊 #DidYouKnow that in 2020, this park was redesignated from a national river to a national park? #FunFact: Similar to the Nile, the New River flows from South to North (most North American rivers flow in the opposite direction).
