The Mississippi River is one of the world’s most celebrated rivers. While 10 national park units lie along or touch the Mississippi River, only one national park unit has the river as its focus and mission - the MississippiNPS. In 1999, we supported the acquisition of a 20-acre property along the Mississippi River in Dayton, Minnesota, that was added to the park.
