May is
#AsianPacificAmericanHeritageMonth. Did you know that numerous National Park Service sites pay tribute to Asian and Pacific Islanders who have enriched America's history and that one of those parks is Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park?
In 1985, the National Park Trust provided technical expertise in a 5,650-acre federal/state land exchange at Hawaii Volcanoes. As a result, native Hawai'ians and visitors have greater access to the park, and the traditional Hawaiian culture connected to these landscapes is protected.
#FunFact: This park has two of the world’s most active volcanoes, Kilauea and Mauna Loa, and it is where Polynesians first settled from 1000 to 1200 AD.
