Best of the Decade #1: 2018 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS . . Coming off of a heartbreaking loss in their first appearance in the national semifinals, there was something special about the 2017-18 team right off the bat. . . Prior to the season’s start, Head Coach Gary Astalos said in an interview with Carly Costello that he believed that they had the leadership in place to win a national championship after naming the captains for that season. . . After the first few games of the season, it appeared to everyone else that there was something different that season. . . The bitter end to the 2016-17 season left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth and the team was out to finish the season with a victory that September.
