In celebration of #NationalScienceWeek we thought we’d give you an insight into the cool stuff we get up to at our Forensic Services 🧪🔬👩‍🔬🥼 Our Forensic Services Department (FSD) has over 500 staff, made up of forensic officers (mostly scientists!), sworn police members, and public service staff. They assist with scene examinations, exhibit examinations (think fingerprints and paint marks on cars) and the justice and court process. Our FSD covers a whole range of areas including: 🧬 DNA Analysis 📷 Exhibit and Scene Processing 🌱 Botany 🖐️ Fingerprint Sciences 🔫 Ballistics 🚗 Vehicle Examination 📚 Research and Development Just to name a few! Move over Bones and CSI, they examine more than 75,000 exhibits per year, resulting in more than 2,300 DNA and 10,000 fingerprint links 😲
