Last month, Leading Senior Constable Kevin Knowles hung up the reins after almost 48 years with the Victoria Police Mounted Branch.
From a young age Kevin has loved horses and as a teen he would often ride near what is now the home of the Mounted Branch on the outskirts of Melbourne.
After graduating from the Academy in July 1975, Kevin started work at the Russell Street Police Station. It was only a couple of months later that he transferred to the Mounted Branch and remained there until his retirement.
Across his almost half-century long career, he has witnessed a lot of changes within the police force and the Branch itself.
Some career highlights include:
๐ Training more than 20 police horses.
๐ Being triumphant at multiple interstate and international competitions, including Tent Pegging (Donโt know what it is? Go check it out!).
