We are partnering with Portillo's this week to tell you some stories of animals that we helped! "Lola and I moved across the country Nola to Chicago for my internship 2 years ago. Nine months and 1 Covid lockdown later, we received the news that every pet parent fears: Lola had cancer. Alone in a new city and barely getting by on an intern’s salary, I feared I would fail my best friend by being unable to afford her care. I wrote to Sarah with Live Like Roo a characteristically verbose email hoping she would be able to connect us with a veterinarian who could help my best girl. I’ll never forget the response I received: “We will cover this for you.” As I write this, Lola is audibly snoring beside me as she recovers from her 3rd surgery - each one covered in full by Live Like Roo and their partner veterinarians. One year later, my girl is still by my side thanks to the generous support from Live Like Roo. Words will never adequately express my gratitude for this foundation. Here’s to man...
