A new professional soccer team is coming to Washington DC, which means Audi Field will have another team using the stadium. The new women’s team DC Power FC, who will compete in the USL Super League, released their name and crest today. They are majority owned by MLS side DC United. They released a statement calling themselves the “leading women’s soccer team in Washington DC”, completely ignoring Washington Spirit of the NWSL. 😳 The two will share the same stadium going forward, along with DC United and the UFL’s DC Defenders. Former DC United and NYCFC defender Frédéric Brillant is their head coach, he’s been involved with women’s soccer since retiring from MLS. The team will begin play in August. But so far, there are no players or a general manager, so Brillant is leading the player search.
