Working on some defensive footwork, using a dynamic/living split step as opposed to a generic hop that’s the same every time, and my optimal body position with my shin/torso angle and weight distribution. I’ve learned that the shin and torso angle needs to generally track together as much as possible. Steeper shin angles are indeed faster but only if your torso can match it. My torso is often steeper than my shins, which is almost definitional to when someone stumbles. Your shins can also be steeper which is definitional to being on your heels or what people look like when they’re caught off balance. And a lower center of mass isn’t necessarily better. Sometimes higher, it just depends on your body’s initial conditions, i.e. your body’s lever lengths, your leg dominance, total hip arcs, and more.
