Give a warm welcome to May’s Invertebrate of the Month, Horseshoe Crabs! Butterfly Pavilion now has Baby Horseshoe Crabs on display in our new Origins: Building Life exhibit! Small and clumsy, these baby invertebrates are absolutely adorable! Horseshoe Crabs take about nine years to reach adulthood, or 16 to 17 molts, meaning that they can stay little for a long time. Even more interesting is that Horseshoe Crabs have remained essentially unchanged for the past 445 million years.
