#TakeActionTuesday: As April marks Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, continued advocacy and policy making is needed to ensure that sport environments are safe for all athletes and those who work in them. All too often, we’ve seen sports cultures that emphasize the imbalance of power and create situations where athletes are not safeguarded. Athlete safety and wellbeing must be priorities for decision makers and people in positions of power, including policy makers, sports administrators, coaches, parents and the media. We have seen major organizational and policy change in recent years because of survivors’ willingness to share their experiences. While strides are being made, there is much work to be done.
