Catching up on some news that I have missed over the past week: 1. OF Gregory Polanco has been ruled out for the season after having a series of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in his shoulder. The outfielder only appeared in 42 games this year with a late start to the year as well due to the same injury from an ugly slide into second base last September. 2. OF Jason Martin is also out for the year with a dislocated shoulder. “Out for the year” seems a bit extreme, according to multiple reports, because if the injury had happened earlier in the year, he would have returned within a month. His shoulder was dislocated as a result of a slide into home plate earlier in the series with the Marlins. 3. It’s the 6th of September, but I’d still like to inform you about some of the call-ups you may or may not have seen.
