Women’s Day this year is different.
Where are the women’s rights that everyone advocates for? In Gaza, women face not only the absence of their basic needs but also the harrowing challenges of enduring bombings, loss, childbirth in tents, and the struggle to provide food for their children. In such horrible circumstances, what kind of Women’s Day are we celebrating?
Women in Gaza are seeing their families being torn apart while the world watches. This year, it has become painfully evident that the importance of women’s rights is based on the race and ethnicity of the women.
Nevertheless, we refuse to accept this. On this day, we choose to honor and celebrate the powerful, resilient, and beautiful women of Palestine, who have faced unimaginable hardships yet remain strong.
They are the heroes who build and rebuild their lives amidst adversity, raising resilient children capable of standing up against oppression and injustice, with a deep love for Palestine engraved in their hearts....
