Return your maps, brochures and tourist info when you're done. Local printed guides can be amazing resources when you're traveling -- especially if you're in an area where you don't have reliable cell phone reception (We never thought we'd have to use a paper map in our lives until a trip to West Virginia with no cell reception for miles.) But keep in mind, those materials also use community money and resources to produce. If you're not planning to keep them as a souvenir, do your best to return printed handouts whenever possible for the next traveler to enjoy! (You can even leave a little note or tip about your own trip if you want to share!)
