Believe it or not, I wasn’t the most confident with the camera when I traveled across the world. It’s true when they say that you learn on the job — I was on a mission to capture everything. I was shooting for about 2 years prior to my trip but most of the time, I was typically in front of the camera. Yes, I’d shoot every time I’d meet up with my friends and other photographers, but I guess you can say that I wasn’t ‘practicing’ as much to better my skills.
Shooting solo portraits was TOUGH and a challenge at first, but it was the biggest blessing in disguise. It taught me so much about the camera, how to shoot solo, knowing how to angel myself, and it took me off of mindset of “trying to get the shot”. Before international travels opened up and I was mainly shooting in the states, so many times I’d travel to get “the shot”.
