Things to avoid: Animal tourism. We know, having a photo of you with an exotic bird or cute monkey gets you a lot of likes on Instagram, but it's contributing to some less-than-great tourism practices. Instead of supporting (and glorifying) companies that may be mistreating and exploiting the animals in their care, make an effort to see animals in their natural environment, like on a locally-run safari, or visit an accredited animal sanctuary. Get your animal fix, but do it responsibly.
