Tip #3: Make a bond When you travel, experiencing a place is about so much more than the physical place. It's about getting to know people, and luckily, you don't need to try too hard to make that happen. Drop the itinerary and the maps and make an effort to ask for the things you need. It'll take longer, but you'll experience so much more. Don't know where to grab breakfast? Ask the person working the front desk of where you're staying. Not sure where to explore for the afternoon? Stop in a shop along the streets, and while you're checking out ask where they like to spend time outside of work. Sure, you can ask people on the sidewalk or at the park too, but that can be intimidating and possibly even dangerous. Asking someone who is working at a locally-owned place means you're likely asking a local, and no one knows the area better.
