In the year before I left DC to hike the Appalachian Trail, I’d frequently walk the four miles home from work across the National Mall, past the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building, onto Capitol Hill listening to podcasts about the AT. I loved listening to thru-hiker interviews, to see what my life could be like if I truly took the leap to do it myself. My favorite podcast at that time was called Mighty Blue on the Appalachian Trail, run by a British man who had never hiked a day in his life before he set out to hike the Appalachian Trail at the age of 61. He’d have a different guest on the show each week to talk about their adventures, and I couldn’t get enough. Well here we are all these years later, and I myself have been interviewed on the show.
