🟢 We’ll admit we’re a bit tapir obsessed. Are you? As 🌱 “gardeners of the forest,” tapirs are leading the way with what they are leaving behind 💩 in the fight against #climatechange. By dispersing seeds through their poop, tapirs play a vital role in shaping ecosystems and ultimately growing trees that help sequester carbon. Despite their critical ecological role, species like the Baird’s Tapir are disappearing from their range from Mexico to Central America and parts of South America. Re:wild and our partners have established the Baird’s Tapir Survival Alliance where we are collaborating in Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama to protect tapirs.
