Juneteenth (also known as Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, or Liberation Day) marks the day in 1865 when, almost two and a half years after President Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved Texans first learned they were free.⠀ ⠀ Beginning this year, the UofDenver will officially recognize #Juneteenth as a day of reflection, learning, and action. As such, DU_Chancellor Haefner has declared that, henceforth, June 19 will be a University of Denver holiday⠀
