Chinese electronics company Xiaomi Corp will reportedly enter the start of production (SOP) phase of its first car called the SU7 mid-to-late February.
After entering the SOP phase, the company is expected to make around 2000 units of the electric car in March, ramping up production until it reaches over 10,000 units in July. The commencement of SOP means that the cars produced in Xiaomi’s factory will be ready for marketing and distribution to customers.
The pricing details of the vehicle, however, are still under wraps. During the vehicle’s unveiling in December, CEO Lei Jun compared the vehicle to the Porsche Taycan and the Tesla Model S, creating expectations for the vehicle to be a higher-end EV.
