vans warped tour // 2009 This was the first time I used 35mm to cover a show, and the first time I ever used film to cover a significant part of a show. And that was never the goal. I had bought a Canon 1N to use in a class that fall, and I thought what better time to test it than as a backup to my, at the time, onlg digital camera, a 30D. And then disaster struck. After covering The Ataris and Hit the Lights, and as 3Oh3!’s set was starting, the camera displayed Err99. The shutter had failed. I had five or six rolls of film I had brought along for testing/backup duties, and now, instead of having hundreds of photos available per band, I had maybe 10-15, and my band list was absolutely getting cut back. While I was trying to resuscitate my 30D, I ran into elmakias who suggested some things to try, but to no avail, so, I surrendered to whatever fate it was and just went for it. Some of these photos are still images I use in my portfolio today. Sometimes I wonder if I’m overly sentiment...
