Jacksonville is the FINAL stop on the nationwide tour of ‘Sporting Fashion: Outdoor Girls 1800 to 1960’ that started in 2021 & officially opened today at the Cummer Museum!
The exhibit took 15-years to create & after getting a chance to view it earlier today, I completely understand why 😍. It showcases 64 ensembles over a 160-year period (all originals) & how designs in womenswear have shifted in response to societal norms in North America & Western Europe.
The images seen are just a few I grabbed today & they only showcase 10% of the world you’ll be walking into. The details are remarkable - just look at the paper-crafted hair on the mannequins as just 1 example! You’ll see ensembles used for swimming, fencing,tennis, golf, motorcycling, & piloting.
