Last but certainly not least in our Pete Dye golf course series is Kiawah Island Resort where the 2021 PGA Championship is currently taking place. It is a must play for many golfers and is number 3 on Pete Dye's top 12 courses. Ocean Course was the first course to be awarded the Ryder Cup without existing. the Ocean Course took Pete and Alice Dye 2 years to build and it was not an easy two years. In 1989 Hurricane Hugo hit Charleston which flattened the landscape and toppled trees. Roads were closed from the hurricane so Dye and his crew has to boat to the island to work on the course. Dye and his team were working 18 hour days to complete the course before the 1991 Ryder Cup.
