ST. JOHN THE DIVINE: PEACOCK RETIREMENT PARTY 🦚 • Did you know the historic St. John the Divine cathedral (stjohndivinenyc) has been home to 3 peacocks for the past 20+ years? The trio (Jim, Harry & Phil) hatched in 2002, making them 21 years old, and have started to experience some health issues due to old age. 20 years is an amazing age for peacocks! They will be retiring upstate at animalnationinc, a non-profit animal sanctuary. The Cathedral is hosting a family friendly festival on Saturday with actprogramsnyc. There will be games, face painting, crafts and more, and the festivities will end with a farewell to the peacocks at 4pm. I saw the peacocks in 2021 when I was part of a group that walked from the top to the bottom of Manhattan (13+ miles!) St. John the Divine is beautiful, highly recommend visiting at any time of the year. Wish the peacocks a happy retirement - these Morningside Heights legends will be missed! šŸ“ 1047 Amsterdam Avenue šŸ—“ļø Saturday January 21 ā° Fest...
