It’s been 33 years since para events have been included in the Pre Classic, hopefully this year’s edition is the start of a tradition of inclusion. I’m also immensely proud to be an Asian woman competing on a global stage, especially pertinent during Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. There is so much to celebrate, and still so much work to be done and prejudice that we have to dismantle. The meaning and importance of this opportunity is not lost on me.
