All weapons turned over were set to be broken down and destroyed unless the gun had been reported stolen. The police had $5,000 total to trade. The money came from forfeitures, said Darry Lloyd, spokesperson for the State Attorney’s Office. Private collectors stood across the street and offered to buy the weapons at a higher price before they could be turned in to police and destroyed.
