Would you brave the snow or would you rather wait until later in the season when it’s all melted out? I LOVE this hike in the summer but I’m too impatient to wait so there’s usually at least a little snow on my first Crater Lake hike of the season. Today’s mission was probably the snowiest early season attempt so far but a trail had been packed out and was easy to follow. We went early to get up and down while the snow was still firm. In typical Colorado fashion, today’s weather went from this blue bird sunny morning to a grey and rainy afternoon.
