“wear the poncho it makes you look like a tourist” 🤣 Hiking the Rainbow Mountains was no easy task. We had a 2:30am wake up call, and a van waiting to pick us up at 3am for a THREE HOUR bus ride. The actual hike is only 2km but starts at +14000ft elevation and finishes at +16500ft 😮‍💨 We were supposed to do this on our last day in Cusco, to help acclimate to the altitude, but due to scheduling conflicts with Machu Picchu we had to do it just 15hours after arriving at elevation 😰 This was on my list to add something new to exploring Peru. I’m so proud of my dad for making his way up there, and pushing himself. To have that moment with him at that top was gratifying knowing how hard we worked to get there.
