The Tar Heels landed another addition from the transfer portal on Thursday. Ven-Allen Lubin, who split the first two seasons of his college career between Notre Dame and Vanderbilt, committed to head coach Hubert Davis and UNC men's basketball out of the transfer portal. Lubin has two years of eligibility remaining. As a freshman forward at Notre Dame, Lubin started seven games, appeared in 28 and led the Fighting Irish with 23 blocked shots. He then transferred to Vanderbilt to play for UNC basketball alumnus Jerry Stackhouse and the Commodores in the 2023-24 season. Lubin started 26 games and averaged 12.3 points, 6.3 rebounds per game, and shot 13-39 (33.3 percent) on three-pointers with Vanderbilt. Lubin – who stands at 6-foot-8 – joins a UNC frontcourt featuring returners Jalen Washington and Zayden High, as well as incoming freshman James Brown.
