She came. She saw. She conquered. 💫
Elle Purrier St. Pierre (@elleruns_4_her_life) led the women’s 1500m wire-to-wire at the 2021 U.S. Olympic Team Trials - Track & Field. She came through the first lap in 64 seconds, and then blazed through the 800m in 2:09 with a chase pack starting to form.Â
Cory Ann McGee (@corymcgeeruns) followed Purrier St. Pierre through the bell lap, while Heather MacLean (@heather_maclean31) chased down the front pack. Purrier St. Pierre crossed the finish line in 3:58.03 to not only qualify for her first Olympic team, but to break a 33-year-old meet record. McGee finished second in 4:00.67 and MacLean placed third in 4:02.09.
All three women set new personal bests in the event and qualified for their first Olympic games at Hayward Field. Less than a month remains until the Olympic Trials is back in Eugene 🌟
