If you’ve been to the seaside town of Bandon, you may have followed the circles in the sand, but follow the hoofprints in the sand for a brand new way to appreciate Oregon’s coast: on horseback. Bandon Beach Riding Stables will pair you with a horse that matches your experience level and will guide you through beautiful, varied terrain.
With four legs instead of two you will cover more ground, from dirt trails lined with gorse shrubs bursting with yellow flowers, to sand dunes topped with waving beach grass, to packed wet sand dotted with towering sea stacks. Bandon is a birding destination, thanks to the many nesting grounds in the dunes, sea stacks and inland habitats. Keep an eye out for gulls, common murres, cormorants, pigeon guillemots, black oystercatchers, pelicans, peregrine falcons, tufted puffins and even bald eagles.
