Happy Manatee Appreciation Day! In the past, manatees were on the brink of extinction. However, increased awareness of this situation has paid off and they are now delisted as "Threatened" species. Although there is still a lot of work to be done, we can continue to help save the manatee population! Together we can fight water pollution and keep the ocean clean! Chemicals and pollution that make their way from human society into the ocean cause a multitude of problems, including algae blooms, which are problematic to nearby seagrass beds.
