Ten years ago today, now-retired U.S. Marine Staff Sergeant Liam Dwyer won his first IMSA race. Dwyer, a Connecticut native, co-drove a Mazda MX-5 to the victory with Tom Long at Lime Rock Park – Dwyer’s home track. The victory came on Memorial Day weekend, nearly three years to the day after Dwyer lost his left leg after stepping on an IED while on patrol in Afghanistan on May 21, 2011. Dwyer later went on to win a second race the following year at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. He remains active in motorsports and veteran advocacy to this day. #IMSA #MazdaMotorsports #MemorialDay #MarineVeteran #RacingForEveryone
