Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. joins the celebration of the federal holiday #Juneteenth, June 19, to commentate June 19, 1865, when our enslaved ancestors in Texas, the most remote “slave-holding” state, were finally informed they were free. As is our way, these African Americans made the best of the situation by turning a confirmation of this nation’s unfair treatment into a celebration of our God-given right to “the pursuit of happiness.” #DSTFreedom #dst1913
