SANTA CLARITA 1-11-21: A retired LASD deputy shot a man with a gun that rammed a gate into a gated community off Sand Canyon Road. Officials responded to a traffic incident that was later upgraded to an assault with a deadly weapon after multiple callers stated they heard shots being fired. When the retired deputy approached the man in the vehicle, a confrontation ensued, the suspect produced a firearm, and a shooting occurred. The suspect was struck twice in the chest. The condition of the suspect is unknown at this time.
