Let’s talk #crosswalks for #traffictuesday ☀️ With more people outside enjoying the summer weather, we’d like to remind drivers of the importance of paying attention for pedestrians walking across streets. ☀️ California Vehicle Code section 21950 states that, "The driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection." ☀️ While some crosswalks in the city have bright flashing yellow lights to warn approaching drivers of pedestrians crossing, others may not. If you see a pedestrian beginning to enter a crosswalk or in the middle of the road, always make sure to yield and do not obstruct their movement. ☀️ Taking just a few seconds to stop ✋ may save someone's life.
