On 4/23/23, Deputies assigned to the Thousand Oaks Police Department Traffic Unit & Patrol responded to The Oaks Mall parking lot regarding an intoxicated subject attempting to drive away.
An alert manager from a restaurant noticed a patron was intoxicated and about to leave. The manager offered to pay for a ride for the subject, but they refused & walked towards the parking lot. The manager called The Oaks Mall security to report the subject as possibly trying to drive while intoxicated.
A security supervisor working at The Oaks Mall located the subject backing their vehicle out of a parking space. The security supervisor drove their Segway scooter behind the vehicle and prevented the intoxicated driver from leaving. The Oaks Mall security notified the Thousand Oaks Police Department of the incident.
