This week, Tuck’s Hispanic American Student Association (HASA) hosted a screening of pixarcoco and created an #ofrenda to celebrate #DiadelosMuertos! Originated in Mexico and now celebrated throughout Latin America, Día de los Muertos does not remember the dead with mourning or sadness, but instead celebrates them with food, drink, parties, and activities that they enjoyed in life. Today marks Día de los Inocentes, honoring the children who've passed away, and tomorrow is officially Día de los Muertos. The Coco screening welcomed Tuckies and #TinyTuckies to join and learn more about the holiday and enjoy decorating #calavera—or skull—sugar cookies. The calaveras are bright and colorful to represent the vitality and personality of the dead. The ofrenda—or alter—has been in Stell Hall throughout the week and is made to honor and celebrate the lives of loved ones who've passed on by putting up marigolds, photos, or memories of those being honored.
